Bad Name

Bad Name were found in 2003, when singer Petr PoLáček and bassist David Stárek decided to found a revival of their favorite band – Bon Jovi. Petr Poláček, eighteen year old singer, could be proud of collaboration with opera diva Eva Urbanová at that time. Very soon they found other memebers of the group – drummer David Jaroš, keyboardist Tomáš Shydlovský and guitar player Ondřej Toul. They had called after the Bon Jovi song – You Give Love A Bad Name.
The band started to play in clubs, they were often invited to private parties or balls. Partial succes was playing in National Theatre in Prague.
In December 2003 the band changes the drummer – Miloš Meier takes place by the drums (today plays with Michal Pavlíček Trio; Leaders!). The band started to write its own songs and they are succesfull in negotiations with BMG label of recording their debut album.
But then the competition Česko hledá Superstar (something like Pop Idol) started. Petr Poláček takes place in Top Ten and new possibilities run ahead for him or better say in front of all band. Age of full time travelling and shows came, which leads to changing the keayboard player – Jakub Zitko takes place of Tomáš Shydlovsky.
The band changes their name to Petr Poláček a Iluze and started to play mostly their own repertoire. By the end of the year 2004 the band signed contract with Popran label to record the debut album.
Eponymous album Petr Poláček & Iluze was released in March 2005, several times it got into Top Ten in Czech Republic and songs from the album are still played in Czech radio stations. After the release the band started a huge tour round the Czech Republic. But on the tour the disagreement between the band and the management grew up, which leads to split by the end of 2005. the last show was held on December 21st, 2005.
After the split, musicians were working on their own project or stopped to play at all. Petr Poláček became a musical singer and he played some show from time to time with session musicians. Also, together with Ondřej Toul, he plans to found his own band anew. They are succesfull with the idea in 2008 and a year later they stared to pley in line-up: Petr Poláček – vocals, Ondřej Toul – guitar, vocals, Milan Janeček – bass, Ondřej Valenta – keyboards and Michal Daněk – drums. The band reutrned to its new and old name Bad Name in fall 2009 and they started to play concerts. In 2010 they plan to release new album.

„When we started Bad Name anew, I was looking for a new guitar, which would be „perfect“ for me. The Hagstrom Ultralux XL-5 won my private contest. It has expressive sound, super fast neck, unique tremolo and it is comfortably light-weight. And it is most sexy guitar I have ever played!“

„ I needed a fretless bass to some songs in Bad Name. I took advantage of Hagstrom offer and I took Hagstrom Beluga IIF. The luthier Jiří Kadet (www.luthier.cz) made a fretless of my Beluga and it was just it. That was the sound I was looking for. Finally I decided to use only this bass with Bad Name. It absolutely satisfies me with the incredible sound, even more it has great playability a it looks beautiful.“
